About Granger Whitelaw
Serial entrepreneur Granger Whitelaw balances his professional pursuits with family and philanthropy. A creative entrepreneur, Whitelaw holds four patents from the United States government, all of them focused around the sport of rocket-powered racing that he helped create in 2001.
Passionate about racing sports of all kinds, Granger Whitelaw founded Whitelaw Racing, Inc., in 1995 to focus that excitement and energy into a career. In his five years of operating Whitelaw Racing, Mr. Whitelaw sponsored and worked with numerous IndyCar teams and their drivers, including several Indianapolis 500 and IndyCar Rookie of the Year winners.
In 2001, Granger Whitelaw began developing a new racing league that involved rocket-powered aircrafts pitted against each other on a closed-circuit aerial racetrack. Working with Dr. Peter Diamandis, Mr. Whitelaw helped launch the Rocket Racing League, which expects to hold its inaugural season soon. Essentially fusing the rivalry and long-distance challenges found in motorsports racing with the thrill and excitement of air shows, the Rocket Racing League will include roughly one-and-a-half-hour races in which competitors will fly canard-style planes fueled by a mixture of liquid oxygen and either ethanol fuel or kerosene.
Granger Whitelaw holds four patents related to the Rocket Racing League. He serves as the inventor of the competition itself and the League’s rocket-powered racing vehicles. On top of his work in aerial rocket-vehicle racing, Mr. Whitelaw applies his decades of experience in corporate development, marketing, sales, and business valuation toward investing in and advising promising startups, such as Social Media 123-4 and iMedicor Inc.
Happily married and the father of four children, Granger Whitelaw enjoys spending his limited free time engaged in charity work and participating in sports. In the past, Mr. Whitelaw has donated to the Homeless Foundation of America and the Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf. His favorite pastimes include skiing, playing tennis and golf, boating, and flying airplanes.
